Court jails ex-serviceman for corruption

The Taichung District Court on Thursday sentenced a former navy serviceman surnamed Tsai (蔡) to two years and seven months in prison for corruption after he leaked classified military information to a Chinese intelligence contact for financial gain.The ruling, which can be appealed, also stripped Tsai of his civil rights for 18 months.In 2023, a former navy colleague of Tsai’s, surnamed Lin (林), met a woman who used the aliases Chu Ting (楚亭) and Ti Ying (緹縈) through a dating app, the indictment said.
