Councillors approve 251-home Stretford Mall plan, but admit it's not quite what they hoped for
'It's a real shame', one councillor said17:10, 10 Jul 2026Councillors have backed a 251-home scheme for Stretford despite expressing disappointment about elements of the plan.The project will see a four- to ten-storey apartment block built next to the multi-storey carpark in the town centre on land currently occupied by the former Stretford Mall. It will be the first phase of housing in a wider regeneration scheme that will ultimately see around 800 new homes delivered.While councillors voted unanimously to approve the development, many on Trafford council’s planning committee criticised the plan put before them.
