Coroner 'disappointed' as new date set for hearing after baby girl killed at nursery
"I think I am disappointed with what's happened today"12:34, 24 Jul 2026A coroner has been left 'disappointed' as a pre-inquest review into the death of a baby girl killed at her nursery has been adjourned.Genevieve 'Gigi' Meehan, aged nine months, died at Tiny Toes Children’s Day Nursery in May 2022 after she was strapped face down onto a beanbag and left unsupervised for 90 minutes by her nursery worker, Kate Roughley.Roughley was jailed for 14 years in May 2024 for causing her unlawful death, with an inquest into Genevieve's death set for June this year.Click here to hear the latest from Manchester's courts in our newsletterAt a previous pre-inquest review in April this year, coroner Alison Mutch said she would delay the inquest and referred the case to the Crown Prosecution Service
