Copper cables worth ₹78 lakh stolen from BMRCL phase-2 metro site despite CCTV, security

The police have registered a case after 2,361 metres of copper cable worth ₹78 lakh meant for the Bengaluru Metro Phase-II was allegedly stolen from a BMRCL central store near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium over a period of nearly a month despite the premises being equipped with CCTV cameras and security personnel.According to the complaint filed by a contractor for the Namma Metro Phase II, the theft came to light on June 26 during an inspection of copper cables at the BMRCL Phase-II Central Store near BRV Junction, behind the stadium.Subsequent scrutiny of CCTV footage allegedly revealed that unidentified persons stole the cables on multiple occasions between March 1 and April 1, indicating that the thefts were carried out over several days rather than in a single incident.The thefts allegedly o
