Controlled and illegal burning caused majority of fires in Portugal

Controlled burning and unauthorised open-air burning were the leading causes of fires in mainland Portugal up to 15 August, followed by arson, according to the latest report from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF).
