CONMEBOL president says 2030 World Cup will have 64 teams as rumors swirl on expansion
The World Cup may be expanding – again. Alejandro Domínguez, the president of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), announced that the 2030 World Cup will be a “64-team tournament.” “In 2030, the World Cup comes to Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, a great opportunity for football, to celebrate the World Cup Centenary with a 64-team tournament,” Domínguez posted on X.
