Closing date for huge Greater Manchester Asda store confirmed as Waitrose set to takeover
NewsGreater Manchester NewsAsdaThe supermarket will be replaced by WaitroseTannur Anders UK & World News Reporter04:03, 10 Jul 2026Asda has confirmed the closing date for a big Greater Manchester store.‌The supermarket on in Hale Barns on Hale Road opened just two years ago, but will shut its doors on Friday, July 31.‌The 11,000sq ft Asda store's closure was confirmed in May.‌The supermarket will be replaced by Waitrose which will open in autumn later this year, but an exact opening date has not yet been confirmed.Asda staff at the store will transfer across and become Waitrose Partners.Additional roles are being created and staff are receiving training ahead of opening.‌Waitrose Regional Manager, David Donovan, previously told Altrincham Today: "Opening in Hale Barns is an exciting opport
