Chief justice reconstitutes jurisdictions of 55 High Court benches

Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury has reconstituted the jurisdictions of 55 benches of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.Of the 55 reconstituted benches, 38 are division benches comprising two judges each, while 17 are single-judge benches.In a notification issued today, the chief justice said the newly constituted benches will begin judicial proceedings from 10:30am tomorrow.Supreme Court spokesman Md Mazharul Haque told The Daily Star that a bench of the Appellate Division will also conduct judicial proceedings.Meanwhile, Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Farah Mahbub will continue to conduct proceedings in the chamber benches of the apex court as usual, he added.
