CHEMICAL COURT BATTLE: UPL directors in court on criminal charges – and a R99m property damage claim

Five years after the UPL chemical inferno in Durban, the company and three directors are in court to face criminal charges for alleged violations of environmental and health laws. It has also come to light that UPL is fighting a separate civil claim for R99-million in damages from Johannesburg-based property groups.
