Cebu City calls off classes as haze persists in parts of Visayas

CEBU CITY — Mayor Nestor Archival announced a two-day suspension of in-person classes as haze from wildfires in the Kalimantan and Sumatra regions of Indonesia — some 2,000 kilometers away — persisted. Archival ordered the cancellation of classes at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, with the suspension taking effect through Thursday. He urged schools to implement
