Car Bomb Targets Olenivka Prison Official in Occupied Donetsk

On the night of Aug. 29, a car bombing in temporarily occupied Donetsk targeted Dmytro Neielov, the first deputy head of the Olenivka penal colony. Neielov is accused of torturing and humiliating Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians, and his current condition is unknown. In the spring of 2026, Ukrainian authorities charged Neielov in absentia with war crimes. The Olenivka colony is notorious for a July 2022 explosion that killed about 50 Ukrainian POWs.
