Busy Glasgow rail line to shut for weekend as engineering works begin

Buses will replace trains for the day (Image: ScotRail) This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. Rail passengers travelling in and around Glasgow are being warned of significant disruption this weekend as engineering works close the Cathcart line. Track work between Cathcart and Maxwell Park will take place on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, resulting in the closure of all lines through the area. As a result, no train services will operate between Glasgow Central and Newton, Neilston or the Cathcart Circle routes throughout the weekend. Passengers are being advised to use alternative rail services where possible.
