Brewers quietly cut ties with former Yankees infielder after Astros trade

The Milwaukee Brewers have cut ties with an infielder acquired recently in a trade with the Houston Astros. The Brew Crew needed a roster spot to open following David Hamilton's reinstatement from the injured list. On Friday, the NL Central club announced that infielder Braden Shewmake was designated for assignment. The 28-year-old was acquired from the Astros less than two weeks ago.
