Brazil’s Central Bank Fines Banco Genial and Bars Its CEO for Four Years

Brazil's Central Bank has fined Banco Genial about R$21.6 million (about US$4.0 million) and barred its chief executive for four years, citing foreign-exchange irregularities and internal control failures. The regulator announced the sanction on 12 August 2026, and the bank can challenge it through an administrative appeals process.
