Bolton couple quit jobs and sell all they own after getting hooked on new lifestyle and now save £1,200 a month

A Bolton couple have told how they ditched their day jobs to float around the country on a canal boat. They say they have more than halved their living costs and are now 'addicted' to a life on the picturesque waterways.Daniel Blyth, 32, first “fell in love” with narrowboats as a child and, after meeting his now-wife Charlotte Blyth, 35, in 2024, the pair became “hooked” on the lifestyle after watching people living in boats online.In 2025, the couple bought a small motorboat to “test the waters” before purchasing a three-bedroom narrowboat for £10,000 through Facebook Marketplace.
