Body found in burning car on rural road in Waitomo

Police are treating the death of a person found dead in a car on fire this morning as unexplained.Inspector Karl Thornton said officials were alerted about 6am to a car on fire on Mokauiti Road in Aria, Waitomo.Fire and Emergency responded and found a person dead."Police remain on scene and are working to establish what exactly has occurred, but at this stage the death is being treated as unexplained."Thornton said cordons were in place on Mokauiti Road, between Waitahi Road and Oniao Road.He asked the public to avoid the area.
