Blockade in Derry as bonfire pallets obstruct road

A road blockade in Derry prompted warnings from police to avoid the area, as images showed youths moving bonfire pallets into the middle of the road on Friday. The PSNI advised road users to avoid the Lecky Road flyover in the area, due to it being impassable.It comes as a dawn operation was launched on Wednesday by the Department for Infrastructure, overseen by the PSNI, to remove materials that had been stashed away beneath the Lecky Road flyover in the Bogside area of Derry in advance of the August 15 bonfire.Bonfire pallets are moved along the Lecky Road in Derry's Bogside next to the flyover road on Friday night.
