Blaze breaks out in North Canterbury in terrain too rough for ground firefighters

Helicopters have been brought to in deal with wildfire in rugged terrain in North Canterbury.FENZ says the vegetation fire broke out on Karaka Road, south of the Hurunui River, just before 1pm.Three helicopters are fighting the fire, but the terrain is too rough for ground operations, leaving half-a-dozen brigades at the scene on standby.The fire covers about100 hectares.
