For residents of the One Town area, pollution is no longer an occasional problem but an everyday reality, with black dust settling on homes, vehicles and streets and concerns mounting over its impact on health. From the port-adjoining lanes of the Old City to parts of Gajuwaka, residents say that coal and iron ore dust, industrial emissions, and vehicular pollution have made the air a persistent source of fear, writes Harish Gilai.
