Around 36 million Italians having a summer holiday this year - study

Around 36.2 million Italians are having, had had, or are going to have a summer holiday this year, 25.7 million adults and 10.5 million children, hoteliers association Federalberghi said in a study released on Friday. Italy's population is just under 59 million. Federalberghi said 87.6% of the holidaymakers are staying in Italy, with seaside resorts the most popular option. It said the Italians who are heading abroad will mostly go to beach destinations in countries like Croatia, Greece, and Spain, although trips to big European capitals are also popular. It said the revenue generated by Italians' summer holidays should amount to around 43 billion euros. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED © Copyright ANSA
