AR Constable injured in knife attack during highway patrolling in East Godavari

Armed Reserve Constable Vemula Venkateswara Rao, 40, was reportedly attacked by miscreants during a vehicle check on the national highway near Ernamgudem village in the East Godavari district on Monday (August 31, 2026). The incident occurred while a team from the Devarapalli police station was engaged in patrolling the highway. The accused allegedly stabbed the constable with a knife when he asked about their identity.Devarapalli Circle Inspector Mr. Nageswar Naik told The Hindu, “One of the two miscreants resorted to an attack on Mr. Venkateswara Rao with a knife when they were asked about their identity.
