US launches strikes on Iranian targets a day after it foiled missile attack on American forcesBAGHDAD (AP) — The U.S. military said Wednesday that it launched strikes on Iranian targets in response to Tehran's attack on American forces in the Middle East. The latest barrage came after the U.S. partnered with Saudi Arabia to strike Iran-backed militias in neighboring Iraq, killing at least 20 fighters and six Iranian advisers. The new strikes on Iran are “a powerful response to yesterday’s attempted Iranian attack,” U.S. Central Command said in a post on social media Wednesday evening. U.S. President Donald Trump had vowed to retaliate after Iran targeted a base in Jordan that hosts U.S. troops.
