There can’t be many people in Northern Ireland who aren’t familiar with the legacy of broadcaster Gerry Kelly, who has died at 77-years-old. A big character in every way, famous for creating a big programme that made media history here.Although I’d worked behind the scenes in Ulster Television for many years, in 1982 I was asked to join Gerry in a new magazine programme called Lifestyle. A baptism of fire for me, but an easy transfer for him as he had already made his mark with Gloria Hunniford on the teatime news programme Good Evening Ulster, and had a ready audience.
