Andy Burnham £395 state pension increase planned for people born before 1953
NewsCost Of LivingAndy BurnhamState pension rises thanks to the so-called Triple Lock10:00, 18 Aug 2026Andy Burnham's promise to keep the Triple Lock means state pensioners look set to receive a 4.1 per cent uplift next April. The state pension from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) rises each and every April. It does so thanks to the so-called Triple Lock, which guarantees a rise of either 2.5 per cent, inflation (currently 2.6 per cent) or wage growth (4.1 per cent). It means wage growth looks likely to be the deciding factor. This would take the basic state pension from £184 a week to £192.40, handing basic state pensioners (who are born before 1953 if women and 1951 if men) a £7.5 weekly rise.READ MORE New rubbish rule from September 1 under Andy Burnham 'for England only'Thi
