Currently, the town is served by a Morrisons superstore along with a number of smaller town centre outlets.‌The popular seaside town has seen significant growth in recent years with a number of new housing developments springing up. Aldi hope to build the new store on a brownfield site at Amble Retail Park, north east of the A1068.‌Planning permission was granted in 2019 for the development of the Morrisons store and petrol station alongside other retail units as well as food and drink uses.
