30 Killed as Rubbish Mound Collapses in Guinea At least 30 people have been killed and 22 injured after a mound of rubbish collapsed onto homes at a major waste site in Conakry, Guinea, following heavy rain. Six of the injured are in serious condition. Fears remain that the death toll could rise. Rescue teams, including the military, have been searching through the debris with excavators for survivors. Prime Minister Mamadou Oury Bah visited the site to oversee the response. The government had recently ordered the expulsion of nearby residents in informal housing due to a fear of collapses . A similar landslide at the waste site killed 10 people in 2017.
