Abandon incinerator project in Kodungaiyur, say north Chennai residents
The Federation of North Chennai Residents’ Welfare Associations has urged the State government to provide a permanent solution to the Kodungaiyur dump yard issue and abandon the proposed incinerator project, terming it a massive threat to the region.In a press release, federation president T.K. Shanmugam welcomed the State government’s announcement to construct a 400-bed multi-super speciality hospital in Perambur at an estimated cost of ₹300 crore. He said the establishment of the medical facility was a long-standing demand of the local residents.According to the statement, the federation had consistently pressed for the hospital by taking the demand to Ministers and government officials on various occasions.
