9/11 victim identified after nearly 25 years thanks to DNA breakthrough

New York City has been working for more than two decades to formally identify each of the more than 2,600 people who died when the Twin Towers fell. This week, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the NYPD announced they formally identified a victim using genetic genealogy. The process combines DNA testing with family research, the NYPD said. The identification marks the 1,654th formal identification of a victim in the terror attacks. The adult woman has not been named.
