This weekend the Manchester Caribbean Carnival will return with a jubilant parade, big celebrations and a real sense of community spirit. The popular event, which can attract around 60,000 people a year, is one of the city’s biggest annual gatherings since it was first officially held back in 1971. This year’s carnival marks the first year it has been put together by the Manchester Carnival Together CIC and will feature the traditional early morning J’ouvert celebration and parade through the streets of Whalley Range on Saturday morning (August 8).
