15-month-old drowns after falling into pond in Netrokona

A 15-month-old boy drowned after falling into a pond in Mohanganj upazila of Netrokona this evening.The deceased was Salamun, son of Rasel Ahmed of Islamipur village in the upazila, said police.According to police and family, around 6:30pm, when the family members were busy with different household work, Salamun fell into the pond in front of the house.After some time, when the family noticed the child was missing, they began searching for him and found his body floating in the pond.The body was taken to Mohanganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Hafizul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mohanganj Police Station, said the family had not filed any complaint regarding the incident. At the family's request, the body was handed over without an autopsy.
