1,155 offenders arrested in drive against rowdyism

In a statewide drive organised by the Tamil Nadu Police against history-sheeters and habitual offenders, 1,155 persons were arrested across the State. Acting on the instructions of Director-General of Police and Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, special teams monitored the activities of more than 30,000 persons involved in different crimes. According a press release issued by the police headquarters, 2,906 non-bailable warrants were executed during the week-long operation that began on July 15.Cases were registered under Section 269 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused persons who failed to appear in courts after being released on bail or bond.
